Lesson Planning

Observe a class at your tutoring site and try to “backward map” the lesson you see into a lesson plan, using the following format:
Objectives: List at least 3.
Warm Up: What opening or hook did the teacher use?
Motivational Strategies: How did the lesson either promote or diminish students intrinsic motivation?
Activities: List separately with approximate times of duration.
Closure: How does the teacher conclude the lesson?
Follow-Up: Does the teacher indicate what might happen next?
Then discuss the following: How intentional was the teacher’s structure? How did the lesson take into account the needs of the students as a whole? To what degree did the teacher design instruction based on the students strengths and learning styles? Was the lesson successful? Explain.

After you have responded to these questions, please add a couple of paragraphs of additional commentary, observations, insights.
